Adventuring is the most fantastical way to whip yourself into shape – and keep it that way! Adventures, even mild ones, are physically demanding... so we’ll want to train and prepare our bodies to be ready for them. In my personal experience, the best way to keep on top of your fitness game and keep working out consistently is to have a future adventure to work towards. Going to the gym out of discipline is great, but working towards the goal of adventuring in places you would never get to experience otherwise is way more fun! It's not just about getting fit, it's about staying lifetime fit!
Cultural travel and wilderness adventure are a physical challenge, yet the payoff is worth it. The more fit and ready you are to undertake the challenge of adventure the more fun you’ll have – or as I like to say, “more prep, more fun!”
First things first, we’ll come up with your adventure itinerary. Once we know the physical challenges of your upcoming excursion, we can get you ready for it.
I will plan out a fitness plan that is catered to your specific needs with weekly and monthly targets and goals for you to smash – and get you ready to take on your trip. This will most likely include "physical therapy" type exercises, weightlifting and of course, hikes!
I’ll check in with you periodically as your adventure date approaches. That means we touch base about where you’re at as we go along – and if you’re in the LA area we’ll meet up to work out and go out on hikes. You may even meet fellow adventurers on our hiking meetups! I’m a great accountabilibuddy (but it’s up to you to do the hard and worthwhile work).
And you kick ass at it!
Want to know more about training with me? Of course you do!
The cost of training is included with your custom adventure. However, I do offer packages for those individuals who want adventure training but don’t necessarily have an adventure lined up with me yet.
I had an ongoing battle with chronic Lyme disease, and one that made me physically weak, exhausted and sleeping for about 20 hours a day. I had to claw myself back into good health through diet and exercise. At first I could barely do anything physical at all. I started by doing backstrokes at a gym pool, eventually worked my way up to mild gym workouts, then hikes and after huffed and puffed my way through “easy” backpacks. Now I have taken on challenging treks in the Himalayas, the US and beyond. What kept me disciplined and motivated to keep fit? Why, the promise of adventure! Now that I am always training for the next adventure, I have something to keep me focused for daily workouts which keep me fit, healthy and happy.
Why, yes! I’m more than happy to discuss and collaborate with any personal trainer you have and come up with the right plan for you.
