- Travels in Alaska, John Muir
Why do we adventure? Adventuring isn’t exactly the same as a pleasure vacation (though they are fun and at many times pleasurable) but it’s more about getting in touch with our wild side: it’s that part of us that lies unnurtured in our domesticated world – a world which insulates us from both capital-N Nature and our own inner-nature. When we enter the wilderness we go back to our origin – we enter a world where our ancient ancestors survived, lived and loved. We connect to our ancestors as we do what they did: we travel in Nature and bond with our companions, support each other, struggle together… and all of this leads to a deeper understanding of our ancestors and what they must have gone through. We connect more deeply ourselves, our capabilities and gain a renewed sense of gratitude for where we originated as a species, our ancestry, wildlife and the creature comforts we enjoy in the day-to-day. Once our journey into Nature has ended, when we go back to our homes and families, we are changed and armed with the tools we have discovered in the Great Outdoors. This is what being human is all about.

My name is David Britz (he/him/his) and I am a Wilderness EMT, Leave No Trace Educator (Level 2), adventure guide and trip leader. Since I was little I've had the wanderlust and have a love for wildlife, nature and adventure. So far on my journey I've lived in 4 countries, visited 33 and have experienced over half of the nation's greatest treasures: our national parks.
I love to share what I find to be extraordinary and beautiful about the natural world -- all while we adventure responsibly, ethically, and in the funnest ways. The magic and connection I experience out in Nature is something I joyfully want to share. I love guiding newbies into the wilderness just as much as I love traveling with the most experienced backpackers all across the US. There are adventures out there for all of us!
I am fluent in English (I'm still working on my Spanish). I hold a BA in Drama (Dance minor) and studied in the US, New Zealand and Australia where I made wonderful friends and traveled every trail and explored every cave I could. From my time in the backcountry I've picked up a few tricks on how to adventure and backpack nutritiously, ergonomically and holistically. See you outside!

So what does an adventure guide and trip leader do?
Well, think of me as your personal confidant who is by your side from the start to finish of your dream adventure. First you’ll choose your excursion; then I’ll research, plan and book it for you, help you prepare for it, and finally – take you on it! I’ll even do all the driving and cook up your meals in the wilderness. Whether you are a seasoned trekker or it’s your very first time, as an experienced traveler and Wilderness EMT it’s my absolute joy and privilege to assist you and your loved ones to go on your dream vacation in the funnest, safest and most enriching ways possible.
"Leave No Trace" is a collection of principles for individuals, institutions and companies to adopt into their practices in order to minimize their impact on Nature. Level 2 Educators have the qualification to train LNT trainers and other LNT Level 2 educators to integrate and impliment these principles within their own organizations.
My pet project, #20secondsofzen is on my Instagram where I post photos of our adventures and "20 Seconds of Zen" videos: 20 seconds of stillness in Nature to remind us that everywhere in Nature is a work of art.
